sisters, Sonya (Jon) Engels of Sioux Falls, S.D., Jackie Poppen of Omaha, Neb., and Pam (Steve) Bunda of Omaha, Neb. father and mother, Augie and Pat Poppen of Pocahontas, Iowa father-in-law and mother-in-law, Red and Meda Holland of Fairmont, Minn. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Tony Holland of Northrop, Minn. Veronica will be greatly missed by all those that loved her and called her a friend. Her compassion for people spilled over to her love of animals and each of her four-legged friends held a special place in her heart. She always had a smile on her face and an encouraging word for those around her. She truly lived life to the fullest and was one to not let life knock her down. Veronica treasured memories made on trips and held many special memories from her trip to Germany. Her love of food and trying new things made going out for supper an adventure in trying out new places and dishes. Veronica knew her way around the kitchen and was a wonderful baker. She had a passion for reading and always said if she was to go back to college, she would have been a librarian. Veronica was always willing to lend a helping hand, often putting others before herself. She loved the outdoors the warmth from the sun as she worked in her garden, the cool breeze from the water as she shared laughs and stories around the fire by the lake, as well as fishing and camping. In her spare time, Veronica cherished spending time with family and friends. She was still currently working in Advertising as well as helping wherever she was needed. Veronica was hardworking and wore many different hats during her 32 years at the Fairmont Sentinel. Together, the couple would make their home in Northrop, Minn. While working at the supper club, Veronica met Tony Holland and the couple was later married on Aug. She later moved to Fairmont, Minn., where she worked at the Lake Aires Supper Club, the Bell Motel and Shopko. Following her graduation, Veronica took classes at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville. She grew up in Pocahontas, Iowa, attending school there and graduating from Pocahontas High School with the class of 1983. 6, 1965, in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of August and Patricia (Lange) Poppen. Veronica Helen (Poppen) Holland was born Feb. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements. Veronica passed away Wednesday morning, Nov. 12, 2018, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and will continue one hour prior to the time of services Tuesday at the church. A private family burial will be held at a later date. 13, 2018, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Holland, 53, of Northrop, Minn., will be 11 a.m.
